Regan Russell
Ontario, Canada
Regan Russell was a long-time advocate for animal rights, veganism, and human rights attending many protests and events, and supporting many animal rights organizations in southern Ontario, Canada. On June 19, 2020, Regan was protesting the passing of agriculture gag (ag-gag) Bill 156 with a handful of female activists at a Toronto Pig Save event outside of Fearman’s slaughterhouse in Burlington, Ontario where 10,000 young pigs are killed daily. On this day, she was tragically run over while standing peacefully at the gates of the slaughterhouse, water for pigs still in her hand, by an aggressive transport truck driver carrying more than 200 terrified pigs into Fearman’s. Regan, your voice will carry on to speak out for the most vulnerable. We will make certain of that.
“I’m trying. I don’t know if it does any good.
But I know doing nothing does no good.”
