Cows Arriving for Slaughter
Toronto
In the northwest end of Toronto, known as the Stockyards District, there is a slaughterhouse that violently takes the lives of hundreds of cows every day. Residential houses surround this killing factory, and a children's park and splash pad back onto its rear. Across the street is a large, busy shopping complex. While residents shop and children laugh and play under the water fountain, just steps away, the cows' bellows for help go unheeded. The cognitive dissonance is surreal and frightening.
Since 2013, I’ve been organizing Toronto Cow Save vigil for the cows to encourage the public to come, bear witness to the victims of their blind choices and make changes to help them. Read my full story.
